We’re a mobile phone company, and we’re always being asked about mobile broadband. We want to be clear, mobile broadband is no easy thing to get started with. We’ve even seen some people try to make it harder, and we think that’s just not very clever.

The idea of mobile broadband is simple. You pay for unlimited calls and text messages in local areas (which can be anything from a few hundred meters to a few kilometers) and get internet data in a mobile telephone with a bit of signal. So if you go to the gym, you can use your phone to check emails and read the day’s news. If you are in a train and pass by a WiFi hot spot, your phone switches over to that.
